Hi everyone! Welcome to October, when we tackle three more sandwiches in our quest to eat every kind of sandwich under the sun! October’s sandwiches look pretty great, if I’m being honest, but let’s take a look back at September first before we break that seal.
In September, Jim spent far, far too many words writing about Frybread, and perhaps not enough time eating it. (To be fair, Jim spent a lot of time eating frybread as well) We also covered the Taiwanese street food called Nutritious Sandwiches, a term whose accuracy depends entirely on one’s definition of the word “Nutritious.” Finally, we wrote about the sandwich known as Oyster Loaf, and delved into its mysterious origins. Some tasty topics. A lot of deep-frying though. Maybe it’s best to leave this month behind us then and look at October’s sandwiches!
October finally gives us a chance to explore the Pakistani-style Club Sandwich, a version of the classic double-decker using tandoor-roasted chicken, spicy mayonnaise, and absolutely no pork. We’ll get our share of pork with Peru’s Pan Con Chicharrón, a bread roll stuffed with crispy fried pork, potatoes, and Peru’s outstanding Salsa Criolla. Can’t wait! Finally, we’ll try the Salvadoran Panes con Pavo, a kind of Central American turkey sandwich. They all sound great, so October should be a fun month!
